"Blood In The Water" is the upcoming single from Palm Trees In Moscow. It is a new wave inspired, cinematic, dark pop number. Filled with urgent synths, ethereal guitars, soaring vocals, and a polished production, "Blood" pushes the boundaries of what PTIM has done before. Danceable, but with a sense of longing and melancholia, It evokes the bittersweet feeling of being the last one on the beach, delirious from a long night of partying, laughing about some memories of the evening while regretting others, and walking barefoot in the water as the warm sun rises to kiss your face.

Lyrically and thematically, "Blood In The Water" deals with the breakdown of a relationship and the struggle for communication. What sets us apart in our individuality can be the same thing that tears us apart, or the same thing that brings us together. Division and dissent. The themes of the song are universal, especially in 2021.

"Blood in the Water" was written by Baltimore, MD Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist Chris Frantz. The song came about as Frantz, who has always held an affinity for early 90's hip-hop, started experimenting with synths during quarantine (who didn't?). Certain tracks, primarily the loud guitar sounds, were recorded at The Watermelon Room Studios by Garrett Long; but the majority of the song was arranged by Frantz and recorded using Logic Pro X. The track was painstakingly mixed and engineered by fellow musician and frequent collaborator Kris Chinery (who also provides bass and backing vocals). Aside from the mastering process, this was mostly a DIY project.

"Blood In The Water" was mastered by Mat Lefler-Schulman at Mobtown Studios. Lefler-Schulman is a studio veteran with 25 years of Mastering-Engineer experience. He has worked with Beach House, Future Islands, The Dismemberment Plan, John Baptiste, and Ice Cube, just to name a few. With multiple Billboard Top Ten charting artists to his credit, and having worked with numerous Grammy Award-Winning acts, his knowledge and professionalism was a key component to bringing out the best elements of this single and truly making it pop.

This release inncludes two bonus tracks: "Blood in the Water (Reprise)", an extended, instrumental version of the song; and "Shocked & Delighted (Shortwave Mix)", an instrumental remix of our previous single "Shocked & Delighted" by Baltimore musician/producer Shortwave (aka Dylan Grace).

"Blood in the Water" hits all digital platforms Friday, Oct 15, 2021.
